WOMEN reimagining LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT
The Women Reimagining Leadership Movement is an intercultural, intergenerational community of leaders across the Southeastern U.S. who commit to elevating women’s authentic, transformational leadership to advance social justice. We are co-creating sacred space for women and gender nonbinary people to shed internalized patriarchy, white supremacy, and Western-centrism and reconnect with our authentic, embodied leadership practices for greater social impact.

Why Now
The Southeastern United States carries an unresolved history of labor, land, belonging, and leadership that is colliding with a new reality. A reverse migration is underway, bringing women from across the country back to the South to root their families, leadership, and futures in this region. Despite this influx of talent, there are few spaces intentionally bridging the cultural divide between long-term Southeasterners and newcomers.
At the same time, the institutional infrastructures that once supported women’s, Black, Brown, and indigenous people’s, and LGBTQ+ leadership are being systematically dismantled. Executive orders and pressure from influential leaders have eliminated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and women-centered affinity spaces while also repealing protections against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Women leaders are carrying much of the labor and negative impact of these changes. The attack on women has been intersectional and we know that the coalition that fights back must also be just as dynamic, and necessarily inclusive. Many women are seeking a place to reflect, to be witnessed, to heal, to unlearn inherited leadership models, and to reconnect with their own power, the power of community, and their authentic leadership practices.
The Women Reimagining Leadership Movement creates a community for leaders to reconnect with a leadership practice that is rooted in collective care, embodied practice, and the wisdom of women who have always carried their communities forward.
Women’s Leadership Salons
Since March 2026, we have been hosting monthly Women’s Leadership Salons, both online and on site in the North Carolina Triangle region. Focusing on a different theme each month, our Salons are intercultural, intergenerational gatherings where women build community, learn from each other, share challenges and generate solutions in peer advisory groups, and support and celebrate each other’s successes. The Salons are a resource for women leaders and serve as an ongoing pathway into the movement.

Visionaries Circle
Our inaugural Visionaries Circle is planned for 2027. The Circle will bring together influential women leaders from across the Southeast — Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida — for a multi-month virtual gathering, culminating in an in-person meeting focused on reflective practice, co-learning, and collective visioning and action planning. The Visionaries Circle is designed for women leaders to:
Reimagine their authentic leadership — rooted in womanist, embodied practices that shed internalized patriarchy, white supremacy culture, and Western-centrism
Reconnect with themselves, their communities, the land, and their creative power
Strengthen their capacity to create psychologically safe and culturally responsive leadership environments across generations
Build relational networks that support transformative leadership practices and community among women
Integrate embodied practices that sustain growth, resilience, and transformation
Create action plans for ongoing development, community- and movement-building, and social justice impact
We will ask inaugural Visionaries to engage, mentor, and sponsor more women leaders in their organizations and networks to participate in the Movement, creating a liberatory ripple that extends far beyond any single gathering.
Membership Community, Retreats and International Exchanges
In 2027 and beyond, we will form a membership community, offer additional retreat experiences for movement participants, organize international leadership exchanges, and provide other offerings. All offerings will be emergent and directly informed by the needs and desires of The Visionaries Circle and associated broader Movement community.
Commitment to Inclusion
We believe in a gender-inclusive and affirming understanding of “women.” We welcome all people who identify as women, including trans women, as well as gender nonbinary and gender-expansive people who choose to participate in the Women Reimagining Leadership Movement where we are elevating and reimagining women’s leadership.
Lineage
This work stands on the shoulders of people who dared to reimagine what transformational leadership could be. Pauli Murray, Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Dolores Huerta, Gloria Steinem, and countless others insisted that the personal is political, that our lived experience is our expertise, and that love, healing, justice, and leadership are not separate projects.
The Women Reimagining Leadership Movement carries this lineage forward. Rather than curating a static program, we are building an evolving movement — one that treats leadership as relational, embodied, and collective. Women are already telling us they need these spaces where they can be authentic, co-creative, and engaged across multiple intersecting identities. We are answering the call.

- Cultivate a movement of women leaders across the Southeast who build progressive movements
- Co-create mutual aid networks
- Mentor the next generation, and
- Advance collaborative leadership that is intercultural, multigenerational, decolonized, antiracist, and LGBTQ+-inclusive.
We are the pebble creating the ripple. Every woman we support elevates another leader. Every leader she elevates strengthens a community. That is how movements grow—one woman, one relationship, one act of reimagining at a time.
